About ICARUSNet

ICARUSNet system is a database containing data on archival material. It enables easy access for users searching information such as archival fonds, collections, individual documents, their creators and institutions holding archival material. With provided information of the content of archival material, users can access information on additional sources, finding aids that can be used for more detailed research and bibliographic sources in which specific records information can be found. Normative database of creators can be used to find out where and when the individuals, families and legal entities created the archival material, what were there activities and what records that were created with those activities are preserved and can be accessed for research purposes. In normative database of archival holders, users can find information about there history, work, structure, activities, availability and organization of archival material they are storing.

All records are processed by archival regulations and standards. Available information are accessible through different catalogues with simple and advanced search criteria and alongside users can also find entire texts of specific finding aids and bibliographical sources and other related content (translations, regests, transcripts etc.). There is also digitized material of our most valuable and frequently used documents.

Search criteria

Information processed in ICARUSNet can be search by different criteria.

  • ARCHIVAL MATERIAL – enables viewing and searching the archival material
  • DOCUMENTS – enables viewing and searching the archival material by specific type: text, graphics, photographs, maps, plans and blueprints, sound, video, music, electronic records, objects
  • FINDING AIDS – enables viewing and searching the finding aids
  • CREATORS - enables viewing and searching creators
  • HOLDERS - enables viewing and searching holders

Search options

In every database within the ICARUSNet system you can search processed records in two ways:

  • Simple search – searching entire text with all elements of description unit included by the given phrase
  • Advanced search – searching the description unit with one or more combined criteria defined by elements of description

Search results

  • Search results are displayed in a form of list of processed units, and next to each unit on the list there is a loupe icon. Click the loupe icon and detailed description of the unit will be displayed.

Search criteria

  • Archival material database can be searched by: name, level, type, subtype, language, alphabet, place and date.
  • Creators database can be searched by: all name types, type, activity and activity period, locations and sources.
  • Holders database can be searched by: place, type, status, holder location and holder's institution legal type.
  • Register books database can be searched by: place, type, holder and creator, period, language and alphabet.
  • Finding aids database can be searched by: name, code, type, language and alphabet.

Search options

  • If you want to search archival material, use left mouse button to click on “ARCHIVAL MATERIAL“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button to click into search field and write wanted term. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search documents, use left mouse button to click on “DOCUMENTS“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button or wheel to scroll between various types of documents. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search finding aids, use left mouse button to click on “FINDING AIDS“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button to click into search field and write wanted term. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search creators, use left mouse button to click on “CREATORS“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button to click into search field and write wanted term. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search holders, use left mouse button to click on “HOLDERS“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button to click into search field and write wanted term. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search foreign archives, use left mouse button to click on “FOREIGN ARCHIVES“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, use left mouse button to click into search field and write wanted term. If you want extra search option click advanced search and search by specific terms.
  • If you want to search archival resources online, use left mouse button to click on “ARCHIVAL RESOURCES ONLINE“ icon on left side of the homepage screen. After that, list of available archival units will be shown.
